new painting

Here is a painting I worked on Monday and Tuesday. I wanted to work while the sun was hitting the Warner Brothers buildings with the dark, heavy, smoggy sky behind them. Normally you would see beautiful mountains there, but thanks to all the airborn carcinogenic heavy pollutants, you don't get to. Believe it or not, I really do think LA is a beautiful place. I could find a lifetime of painting subjects here. Old trucks, industry, trees, it is all here. I just miss air that is not chewy.

Is it always, always smoggy? Or do you get some relief on windy or cooler days?

Wind seems to have absolutely no effect on smog. Smog is too heavy for wind to affect. How scary is that? Warm weather definitely brings smog. During winter, it is definitely better.

This painting is just absolutely brilliant. Why is no one commenting on this? I love this painting so much. You can see this, smell it, & hear it for real. How you managed to make such a polluted, overcrowded, traffic infested enviornment so fun & appealing is beyond me, its also a true demonstration of your incredible artsitic ability. We've all been in scenes like this. It is everyday life, but I love this all the same. Even if I didn't know you personally from a hole in the street, I'd feel the same way about it.

My birthday is coming up in October...

Thank you again, Dez. It isn't a very good shot of the painting. I will try to scan it 'cuz it's only 8X10.
